Corrin Larter came into construction because she knew there was an opportunity to learn more and to continue to expand her knowledge throughout her career. She likes efficiency, and in her work as an Accounts Payable Specialist, doing things right the first time so they don’t trip you up later.
Where does she see herself growing? “I prefer to be in the office answering phone calls and emails, to be a support for our field crews and supervisors. I would love to become an office manager eventually. I enjoy the relationships I have with our vendors and subs. I also like working with the public, and I enjoy getting to know everyone.”
She spent her high school days playing fast-pitch softball, so the drive and team spirit that comes along with playing competitively are two things that help Corrin stay sharp in the industry.
As far as Corrin is concerned, being a woman in construction is a non-issue. She would simply say, “Don’t ever be afraid that you can’t do something. Working in construction has been fun but also challenging at times, which is why I enjoy it. It keeps me on my toes and always makes my brain work. If you enjoy a good challenge, then working in construction could be an awesome career for you.”
