Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is seeking a Logistics Manager at our Sterling, Virginia location.  This position is responsible for managing day-to-day logistics operations, initiatives and programs.  The Logistics Manager works closely with the Rental Sales Managers, Regional Sales Managers and Area Rental Operations Managers to achieve goals and objectives established for the Rental Division.  This role provides overall guidance to the entire logistics and transportation teams and supports the rental stores in achieving sales objectives and meeting customer needs.  Seeking candidates with Caterpillar or related logistics or transportation industry experience.  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Operations or a related field preferred.  Five years of rental equipment experience preferred.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
  • This position requires 80% travel time, working closely with the Operations Managers and Sales Managers across the Territory to ensure smooth logistics processes, communications and collaboration.

Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight.
