Rummel Construction, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics. With the amount of equipment we own, having experienced, reliable and trustworthy mechanics is crucial.
This position requires operating a Mechanic truck on-site and potentially driving between job sites. The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic must have the ability to lift, load/unload parts and materials, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and perform repairs on CAT earth-moving equipment and/or related equipment.
The position requires strong communication with Operations, Purchasing Agents, and other team members regarding maintenance activities, repairs and safety. The position is responsible for performing all duties and responsibilities within applicable OSHA and other regulations, company policy, and exercises ordinary care expected of a professional Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
This is a safety sensitive position that requires the ability to perform substantial walking, sitting, squatting, standing, bending, lifting up to 50lbs, and being able to get in and out of equipment safely. The position is also responsible for using a variety of tools: hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinding machines, welding and flame-cutting equipment, and jacks and hoists to lift and move large parts.
A Heavy Equipment Mechanic must be able to perform pre and post truck inspections, maintain driver logs (elogs) and ensure DOT compliance at all times. To repair vehicles and equipment, Mechanics often lift heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty parts, and stand or lie in awkward or strained positions. Every employee is held accountable to perform safely and efficiently.
Min Qualifications: 2 years previous experience as a mechanic, troubleshooting and repairing CAT Equipment. The candidate must be 18 years of age and have their own tools, an acceptable driving record, and must be able to pass DOT Medical Clearance. Must be willing and able to travel to different projects.
