Foreman – Underground and Road Construction

Dunigan Bros., Inc. is a family owned and operated underground construction company based in Jackson, MI. We are looking for a competent Underground Construction Foreman to coordinate operations, communicate with engineers, inspectors, and management, and oversee workers at construction sites. As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of a project. This is a working foreman’s position, the foreman is expected to be an active member of the crew. Our crews do not typically work more than 50 hours per week, we believe that it is important to maintain the quality of our employees home life. At time schedules or emergencies will require 6 day work weeks or after hours work, but this is typically not long term.

Projects include sewer and water main construction, street construction, and other excavation work. Our work often includes deep excavations, large pipe, and difficult ground conditions.

Our crews do travel to complete projects typically within 3 hours from home. Location of projects is constantly changing, typically if the jobsite is more than 1 hour from the main office location we stay local to the job. When travelling housing and per diem is provided by the company.

This position includes healthcare, guaranteed employer 401k contributions, vacation, company provided truck, phone, and computer.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities
• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
• Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
• Resolve problems when they arise
• Communicate with project manager, superintendent, and engineers
• Operating heavy equipment and laboring on crew
• Response to after hours emergencies or issues on projects

Requirements

• Proven experience as construction foreman
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
• Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
• Ability to train others
• Ability to plan and stay on schedule

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and report effectively
• Aptitude in math

• Good physical condition and stamina
• High school diploma
