About

Preston Pipelines, established in 1970 out of a small house in Almaden, California, has grown into one of the Bay Area’s leading Underground Pipeline Contractors. Under the leadership of Mike Preston, Preston Pipelines has built strong client-customer relationships that have been the foundation for its continual growth. With the support of the dedicated and experienced field and office personnel, PPI has earned the trust of customers to complete over 150 public and private projects each year. Our motto of Service, Integrity, and Quality, has helped us establish our reputation as one of the leading Underground Pipeline Contractors in the state of California. Preston Pipelines Inc. was founded by DJ Preston. In the beginning, “Dee” operated a one-man, one-backhoe, irrigation-line repair service for farms and ranches. He built his business by word of mouth, helped by his spotless reputation and dedication to hard work. This led to more jobs and higher visibility for the young company. As a teenager, Mike Preston joined his father, Dee, during high school summer vacations, where he learned the business first-hand – including experiencing the cyclical ups and down of the business and the long hours required for success.

Mike enjoyed the work and wanted to expand the company’s horizons. In 1977, with the company then consisting of five full-time employees, Mike agreed to assume field management responsibilities for Preston Pipelines and worked to incorporate more professional management practices into the company’s procedures. Mike was eager to see the company grow. His strengths were the way he dealt with people – his conservative and ethical business approach, and his honesty and integrity. In 1987, Dee Preston transferred ownership of the company to Mike. Two years later, Dee officially retired from the company.

The LPCH Cistern Tanks Installation project started on November 3rd of 2014. This is the first phase of the whole LPCH project. This phase includes the installation of normal utilities (sewer, storm, fire water and domestic water) a UV disinfection vault, an irrigation wet well and 4 cistern tanks to store disinfected rain. This entire project qualifies as a LEED project. The cistern tank will collect the rain water and disinfect it so it can be used for the site irrigation system.

The HGST R&D and Admin Building project started on August 11th of 2014. Phase 1 of the overall project is to design for and execute the relocation of utilities including several highly critical systems (chilled water, compressed air, steam/condensate and industrial waste effluent) that are currently within the proposed building pad locations. This must be done in a manner that will not interrupt the contiguously running production operations of the HGST facilities. This is a fast-paced project that requires collaboration among all key players.
