Chad and Justin Hughes grew up working at their father’s site development company in central Florida. After giving college a shot and deciding it wasn’t for them, they went to work for the family business, starting as laborers and worked their way to supervisory positions.
In 2011, their father chose to close the business and retire. Rather than work for someone else, the Hughes Brothers decided to start their own site development company. With only five guys to start, they did anything they could to make ends meet from doing roadway patches to painting fire hydrants.
The fast-paced growth of HBC began in 2013 when they were able to create a multi-million dollar savings on their largest project to date. Rather than keeping the money for themselves, they did the right thing and gave the money back to the developer. Since then, they’ve enjoyed a long relationship with that developer and many others.
Despite the fast success, you won’t find much for ego at Hughes Brothers. The brothers are still out on sites daily, and there’s no endgame in sight. Thanks to more and more opportunities, they’re always looking to add great people to their ace site development and pipe laying teams.
"My favorite part about my job is my co-workers and that I get to play in the dirt. I really enjoy working for Hughes Brothers! Chad and Justin have trusted me and I’ve been allowed to express my talent, and because of that, doors have opened for me to learn more and grow here."- Dominic McDaniel, Dozer Operator
While Will started his career as a welder, he quickly realized he preferred operating excavators. He’s learned a lot about loading trucks fast since joining Hughes Brothers a few years ago and he loves the top-of-the-line equipment. While he never thought he’d have the chance to operate big iron growing up, he does it five days a week now!
