Arthur Wilson founded Graniterock in 1900 when he purchased a small granite quarry in Aromas, California. Starting as a small operation, the quarry grew as the cities surrounding the bay area, and the central coast expanded.
As the quarry business developed to feed the surrounding population, Graniterock diversified into concrete and asphalt and built a materials presence not just in Aromas but in San Jose, Redwood City, Salinas, Hollister, and Gilroy.
By the 1990s, Graniterock had built a substantial construction presence on top of its already strong materials business. Today, Graniterock builds public and private projects all over the California coast and bay area.
Still, family-owned, Graniterock provides endless opportunities in a beautiful part of the country but in a small family atmosphere.
